Guidelines Governing the "John C. Parker, Jr. Memorial Scholarship"

October 2025

Qualifications - Must be a Letter Carrier Member, active or retired, in good standing of NALC Branch #226, or an immediate family member thereof, which includes spouse, children (adopted or step-children), and grandchildren.

Applicants must be enrolled in an institution of higher learning (accredited college or junior college) and must provide proof of said enrollment when the attached application is submitted. This grant will be paid by check to the college or university of the winning applicant. Applications must be submitted to the Branch office beginning September 01, 2025 and by no later than November 01, 2025.

The method of selection will be by a drawing from all qualified applicants, and the drawing will be held at the December 4, 2025 Branch Meeting. These funds will be paid directly to the college or university during the month of January 2024.

NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS

September 2025

In accordance with Article V of the National Constitution, this is official notice to all members of the Panther City Branch #226, Fort Worth, Texas, that nominations for all elected officers for the term 2026-2028 will be accepted at the October 2nd Branch Meeting. The nominations will be open for the following positions: President (full-time), Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, HBR/MBA Representative, Sergeant-At-Arms, Director of Retirees, and five (5) Trustees.

The election of officers will be by mail-out ballot according to Article V of the Branch By-Laws. All candidates for Branch Office and/or for a delegate position must certify in writing that he/she has not voluntarily or otherwise held, accepted, or applied for a supervisory position in the Postal Career Service for any period of time, whether one (1) day or a fraction thereof, either detailed, acting, probationary or permanently, anyone serving in this capacity shall be ineligible to run for any office or to be a delegate for a period of two (2) years after termination of such supervisory status.

Nominations for delegates to the 2026 — 74th National Convention, which will be held in Los Angeles from August 3-7, 2026, will also be accepted at the October 2nd Branch Meeting; the election for delegates will be held at the November 6th Branch Meeting. All candidates for the position of officer and/or delegate must be current in payment of their dues in order to be eligible to be a candidate.
