From the President

For all who was not aware of I attended the National Rap Session held in New Orleans back in November, updates concerning the negotiations on the new contract. Of course, you know the current contract expired on May 20th, 2023, and the 60-day mandatory mediation expired on July 19, 2023. President Renfroe detailed if negotiations are not successful and an agreement is not reached both parties will begin selecting an arbitrator. The main issue every member is concern about concerning the new contract is of course “Pay.” President Renfroe stated that we are asking for significant pay increases across the board for all letter carriers, elimination of Table 2, and higher starting wages. I strongly believe letter carrier’s pay must be not only comparable but greater than UPS considering our job is more demanding and complex.

On to another subject, I am excited to announce the branch contracted with NEP Services to create and maintain our new website! So, this will be Branch 226 final printed newsletter, with the creation of our website the branch stands to save a significant amount of money. The address to the new website is as follow www.nalcbranch226.org. The site will be up and live by the 22nd of January.
